GRACIE (Grace)

GRACIE, originally uploaded by KatieTark.

GRACIE WAS ADOPTED!

How she got her name: Gracie was originally named Grace, because when she came in with those long legs on the vinyl tile...she was sliding all over....very "UN"Graceful...thus, Grace.

Gracie is a female about 2 years old. When we first got her she was a 50 lb., underweight, emaciated mess and balding from a severe case of demodectic mange. The incision where she was spayed was infected and was split totally open—seriously almost 4 inches long. There was no way she could be adopted in her state. She needed major rehabilitation and lots of lovin first.

OH BOY. . .only 4 months later--look at Gracie now! She's around 100 lbs. She loves everyone. She is really great with other animals. The photo in the collage with the white dog is Gracie cuddling with our fostered, disabled dog that got beat so bad she has major neurological problems and can barely walk or control her legs. Even though we tried to create a cart for her, it doesn’t seem to work. Gracie makes sure she gets loads of attention.

Well, around my house Gracie likes to play, run, cuddle, love and yes, rest with the rest of the pack! Because she is an inside dog only, she can only be adopted to a loving family that will keep her inside. . . appreciate and welcome her warm, open, loving, unconditional heart.

"You think dogs will not be in heaven? I tell you, they will be there long before any of us" ~ Robert Louis Stevenson. . . .Are you ready to open your heart to Gracie?

LUCKY

LUCKY IS ADOPTED!

Lucky is a pit mix. We found him when he was very small in the wooded pasture behind our property. He is neutered, had all shots and is on heartworm preventive medication. He loves to play and is quite a mamma's boy. He gets along with other animals, loves to play, cuddle and give love. He is an "inside dog" only.

Are you feeling lucky enough to be the right family for our Lucky?

GOLDIE

GOLDIE, originally uploaded by KatieTark.

GOLDIE WAS ADOPTED!

Here is Goldie, a golden Lab mix. Goldie is a 6 months old female. She is very, very sweet. Right now she’s teething so she needs plenty of rawhides during this stage. She has that "lab" puppy personality...and can be a bit of a handful. Wow! Goldie is extremely smart, smarter than many humans out here. . .PLUS, she’s a really fast learner, and does listen...well, as long as her puppy memory will let her remember your commands.

She's housetrained and uses a doggie door too! She will really make someone an awesome dog. She's about 30 lbs. now...I'm anticipating 40 to 45 lbs. max. A reddish/gold color...very pretty now that she's become an "inside" dog and must remain an inside dog.

"Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole." ~ Roger Caras. . .Let Goldie make your life whole.

MAMMA DOG

MAMMA, originally uploaded by KatieTark.

MAMMA DOG WAS ADOPTED!

Mamma Dog was originally scheduled to go up north after she was abandoned. While on the way, she freaked out in the car, so she stayed with me. She still hates cars today...probably because that's the last thing she remembers about being abandoned.

Mamma is a cocker spaniel mix. . a good dog, up to date on all shots, wormed....spayed. She’s good with dogs, cats and kids...(note: should be slowly introduced to dogs...she's normally fine within an hour or two...and will chase the cats if they run, and even corners them, but would never hurt them).

She likes to make the house more chaotic when animals or kids are around. When we come in the door she gets all the other dogs excited...barking and playing with them. Have you ever tried to walk in, much less carrying like groceries, past 10 dogs in a short hallway...the little ones on the stairs yapping, and Mamma running, and playing, and barking, and getting them all excited....well, that’s Mamma.

With all the running around she does, she should be thinner. I don't see her eating that much either. She is a bundle of fun and a joy to be around. She loves to love and be loved.

Why not give a little lovin to this sweetheart. . .she won't break your heart. . .she'll help mend it--open it. . .and bring a special kind of love into it. . .we promise

SHELLEY

SHELLEY, originally uploaded by KatieTark.

Meet our Shelley. She's probably one of the sweetest 14 year olds there is.

She never complains-- not even when her arthritis is bothering her. I can tell it hurts when she tries to walk. . .but she never says a word.

I never have to worry about her making a mess. . .she NEVER does. We couldn't stand to see her in a shelter, so she's with us until a really good pet lover comes along.

If you've never had an older dog, they are a delight. Very predictable, loyal and have patience. Shelley is truly a special little girl and deserves a loving family.

Hey Seniors. . .help another senior. Can you welcome a senior partner into your home?

CHERYL

CHERYL, originally uploaded by KatieTark.
CHERYL WAS ADOPTED!

Cheryl is a benji and beagle mix. Cheryl, Tish and Logan are siblings. When I was at our Spay-Neuter clinic in May, I was asked if I could find a home for them.

Cheryl is about 1 1/2 years old. She’s female and a little smaller than her sister Tish. She’s about 30 pounds. She’s doggie door potty trained so far, but only in the tarped pen in our air conditioned garage, which opens up to a larger pen outside. She really needs more human socialization. She is very sweet, but very shy of other people.

I’m sure with the right home she’ll be a wonderful, affectionate dog. She gives you that cute look like “Can I come home with you?”

JULIE WAS ADOPTED!

Julie was rescued. Somebody dumped her in the wooded pasture near our property. She is young, maybe one year old. She is so playful, goes along with all the other dogs and cats and sleeps all night through without a accident. That means she is housebroken, at least at night. On daytime she is outside with all the other dog. She is not spayed yet, but I hope we can do this soon. Also she has all shots and heartworm test. Julie has very curly hair, so I don't know what mix she is. She weights about 25 lbs. Fostered by Ursula For more information, contact Ursula at Rescuing Rover

Windsor Rose - Afghan Hound,Great Pyrenees [Mix]

Windsor Rose Windsor Rose
  • Breed: Afghan Hound, Great Pyrenees [Mix]
  • Sex: Female
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large
  • ID: DO725

Windsor Rose is an approximately 2 to 3 year old female Afghan Hound/Great Pyrenees mixed female. She clearly has some type of sight hound in her. She has the high hip bones, and curled tail of an Afghan, though her gray, gold and white markings are perhaps more suggestive of a Borzoi. However, she has heavier bone structure and a less delicate face than most sight hounds, which suggests the Pyrenees in the mix. She has had a recent litter, and probably several in her lifetime. She is a nice, friendly girl. Every time you pass her, her tail starts to wag. In the second photo, we've attempted to show her high hip bones and curled tail, though she isn't totally cooperating. This pet is up to date with routine shots. This pet has been altered.

Rocky - Dachshund [Mix)

Rocky UPDATE: ROCKY WAS ADOPTED TO A GREAT HOME. YEAH!
  • Breed: Dachshund [Mix]
  • Sex: Male
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small
  • ID: DO735
Rocky is a 4 year old neutered male Wire Haired Dachshund mix. He probably has some terrier in him and perhaps even a dash of Chihuahua. He is a dignified little guy, very well housebroken. He came to us along with Sandie, a Carin terrier mix, when their owner died unexpectedly. The owner had adopted both dogs together three years ago when their first owner gave them away. Other family members were unable to take the two dogs. Friends hoped the dogs could be adopted together since they had been together so long, but it wasn't possible. Sandie has gone to a wonderful new home. Now Rocky wants a person or family of his own. He likes attention and being petted, and seems favorably disposed to gentle children, although he did not live in a home with children previously. This pet is up to date with routine shots. This pet is already house trained. This pet has been altered. Contact Information for Rocky:

ADOPTED YEAH!

Mindie & Maude are Beagle/Basset (?) twins. Can't tell them apart. about 8 months old females. Very timid with people if they think they are going to be manually disciplined. . .freak out on a leash but learning. Lady from vet call them her "Dragons". . .she had to Drag 'Em out of the cage. Very sweet and calm. . .get along with all dogs. Listens well. Need more human socialization and confidence they will not get hurt again. Would not suggest as hunting dog due to timidness. They were picked up in Hwy 14. . .initially there were 3 more siblings, but all hit by cars and killed. Owner didn't care. About 25 lbs., all shots but rabies, wormed, spayed. Fostered by Brenda. For more info on Mindie & Maude contact Rescuing Rover.

UPDATE: Mindie & Maude are adopted. They are now in Illinois. YEAH!

Oscar

Oscar, originally uploaded by KatieTark.
ADOPTED YEAH!

Hello Fellow Dog Lovers! My step sister is in need of a good home for her 7 year old English Springer Spaniel, Oscar. She is moving to Texas in less than 2 weeks and will not be able to take Oscar with her. Although Oscar gets along fine with her 2 young boys, he does have some minor health concerns (see below) that take more time than a working mother of 2 is able to provide. Knowing this, she is sick about the whole thing and is desperately trying to find Oscar a good home (no charge for the dog, just love :-). If you are interested, or may know anyone that is, please let me know asap. She currently lives in Springfield, if you would like to meet Oscar. I have also attached some recent pictures of him. Here are some things about Oscar: 1. Full Blooded English Springer Spaniel, she has had him for all 7 years. 2. House Trained and Good with Kids (she has two young kids under 2 years) 3. Good with other animals (they also have a cat and Oscar gets along with her just fine) 4. Used to staying inside all day with frequent visits outside. 5. Overall, a really good, beautiful dog 6. They have all of his papers, Frontline, Dog Food, etc.. His Health: 1. Had an accident when he was a puppy and has a foot that has a small amount of padding on the paw. Therefore, if he is going to be outside of extended periods or on different terrain (woods, etc), he has a special booty that he should wear. 2. Suffers from Chronic Ear Infections, they give him ear drops daily to help avoid any infections. They have worked with their vet to try and fix this, but no luck yet :( 3. Sensitive skin, sometimes gets "yeast infections" (which I'm sure is due to his ear). They keep him groomed to help avoid any skin problems. I have seen Oscar and even hough he may have the occasional itch, his coat is healthy looking and shiny. Thank you for any help you can give and communication to others about this great dog. I hate that we have so many dogs ourselves, otherwise I would take him in a heart beat. Please let me know if you have any other questions or are interested in meeting Oscar. For more information about Oscar, please contact Rescuing Rover.
